1. What is cloud backup?
It is a fully automated service that allows you to select all important company data stored on your servers or PC's to be uploaded via your internet connection to secure servers at a location away from your business premises and at a time most convenient to you. It is a cost-effective and more reliable alternative to performing data backups in-house.
2. What are the benefits of off-site data backup over conventional methods?
The service is hardware independent therefore no obsolescence. If your present tape/disk drive fails you would have to replace it with an identical unit if your existing tapes were to be used. If this type of drive is no longer available your tapes are of no use whatsoever. In addition, if you upgrade your server you do not need to purchase a backup drive.
It is performed 365 days per year.
No backup media to be relied upon. Backup tapes should be renewed every six months as they can stretch and become damaged during use and transmission.
No dependency on a member of staff remembering to change the tapes on a daily basis and remove from the site for safe keeping. No concerns over holiday/sickness cover.
Fully automated - electronic solution - reliable modem technology and communications reduce the risk of error or oversight.
Data is stored offsite fully encrypted and password protected.
3. Has this data backup technology been proven?
This off-site backup software has been in use since 1999
4. How does it work?
A small software program is installed on the server or PC that holds your data. The system is then set to securely connect to our remote servers via your Internet connection (normally during the night) and upload your selected data files. This data is fully encrypted and password protected and is sent across a secure connection. Only personnel with authorisation and passwords, can gain access to recover the files. The data is stored on our remote servers in two UK data centres. If at any time you wish to perform backups outside the schedule this is also possible.
5. Is technical knowledge necessary in order to perform off-site data backup?
In short, no, due to:
User familiar explorer-liked interfaces.
Wizard guided backup setting.
No training or extensive IT knowledge necessary.
Scheduled backup allows server/PC to be backed up automatically.
"Backup and Shutdown" feature allows users to back up their desktops/notebooks easily without having to stay behind.
6. Will off-site backup work on my computer?
Off site, backup supports all major computer platforms including Microsoft Windows (from 95 to 10), Apple Mac Osx and linux.
7. Are multiple versions of data stored?
Any backed up version of data can be retrieved.
8. When can I access my backed up files?
You can restore your files anytime, 24/7, 365 days per year from anywhere that has an Internet connection.
9. Is off-site data backup secure?
Offsite data backup is now widely accepted as being the backup method of choice for most SME's simply because it is so much more secure than traditional methods.
If you currently operate an in house tape based solution, there are many ways in which data loss can still occur. A tape may become faulty, a tape or USB drive could be stolen or lost or damaged.
Online backup requires no human intervention and there is nothing physical to manually move to safe storage, so there is no chance it can be lost, stolen or damaged.
10. How secure is my data when using your service ?
All data and files are fully encrypted and password protected prior to them leaving your computer or network. Encryption of your data is to military grade levels and cannot be read or decrypted by anyone other than authorised personnel and only then if they have the decryption key.
11. Is my data stored securely ?
Yes. The data sent to our servers is encrypted and password protected.
12. Is my backup backed up ?
The backup equipmnet is installed in two UK data centres so any data sent to the primary site in London is also replicated to the secondary site in Maidenhead. It is also important to know that it is a private Cloud and not open to all and sundry.
13. Are my backups monitored for errors ?
I monitor all backup reports on a daily basis, so that any possible errors are picked up and fixed quickly.
